Side-note: I'm not sure if this is contributing to the problem, but I recently recovered my computer after the software file in my system32 config folder had been corrupted by using a bootable USB, accessing the command prompt, then renaming the damaged file and copying the backup software file from the reg backup folder to the config folder.
